Alienware AW2725D 27″ QD-OLED QHD 280Hz Gaming Monitor

The Alienware AW2725D combines a high refresh rate with exceptionally fast OLED pixel transitions.

At 280Hz, the display refreshes approximately every 3.57 milliseconds, compared with 4.17 milliseconds at 240Hz and 6.94 milliseconds at 144Hz.

This provides more frequent visual updates, helping fast-moving objects appear smoother when the connected PC delivers sufficiently high frame rates.

The 0.03ms response time further reduces pixel-transition blur, which is particularly useful during rapid camera movements and target tracking.

The AW2725D is well suited to competitive games such as Counter-Strike 2, Valorant, Apex Legends and Overwatch 2.

However, the full benefit of 280Hz requires a gaming PC capable of delivering high frame rates.

The AW2725D supports AMD FreeSync Premium Pro and NVIDIA G-SYNC functionality, helping reduce screen tearing and stuttering when frame rates vary.

Variable refresh rate is especially useful in demanding games where performance fluctuates between scenes.

FreeSync Premium Pro also supports compatible HDR gaming workflows.

The supplied specifications confirm G-SYNC support but do not identify its certification tier. It should therefore not be described as having a dedicated G-SYNC hardware module without additional verification.

HDMI 2.1 & USB Connectivity

The Alienware AW2725D includes connectivity for gaming PCs, consoles and USB peripherals.

Connectivity highlights:

• 2 × HDMI 2.1
• 1 × DisplayPort 1.4
• 1 × USB Type-B upstream
• 1 × USB Type-A downstream
• 1 × USB Type-C downstream
• USB charging functionality
• Picture-in-Picture (PiP)
• Picture-by-Picture (PbP)

The USB-C port is listed as a downstream charging connection, not a USB-C video input. Buyers should not assume that it supports DisplayPort Alt Mode or laptop video connectivity.

The monitor does not include built-in speakers or a headphone output, so an external audio solution is required.

The AW2725D's HDMI 2.1 inputs allow compatible gaming consoles to connect to the monitor.

Its native QHD resolution makes it an option for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X users who prefer a 27-inch OLED screen.

However, the monitor's 280Hz maximum refresh rate is primarily a PC gaming feature.

Current-generation consoles support up to 120Hz in compatible games and display modes.

Specific support for 1440p, 120Hz, HDR and VRR combinations should be verified against Dell's compatibility documentation.
