If you can only buy one Artisan mousepad and are unsure which surface to choose, the Artisan FX Hayate Otsu V2 SOFT is often the safest recommendation.

Among competitive FPS players, the Hayate Otsu V2 is widely regarded as the most balanced mousepad in the Artisan lineup. It sits between control-focused surfaces such as the Artisan Zero and Type-99 and faster options such as the Hien and Raiden. The result is a surface that performs exceptionally well across different games, sensitivities and aiming styles.

Many players discover that dedicated control pads feel too slow for tracking-heavy games, while speed pads can make precise stopping more difficult. The Hayate Otsu V2 was designed to solve exactly that problem. It delivers a fast and effortless glide while maintaining enough stopping power for accurate flicks, spray control and micro-adjustments.

This balance makes it one of the most versatile premium cloth mousepads available and a popular choice for:

Valorant
Counter-Strike 2
Apex Legends
Overwatch
The Finals
Aim trainers

The refined polyester surface feels smoother than the Hien and more controlled than the Raiden. Movement feels quick and responsive without becoming slippery or difficult to manage. This combination makes the Hayate Otsu V2 particularly attractive for players who switch between tactical FPS titles and tracking-heavy games rather than specialising in a single genre.

The SOFT base is considered by many enthusiasts to be the ideal Hayate Otsu configuration. It provides light cushioning and comfort while preserving consistent glide and stopping characteristics. For most players, it offers the best balance between stability and comfort.

Choose XL for medium sensitivity setups or limited desk space. Choose XXL if you use low sensitivity and rely on larger arm movements for aiming.

For players building a complete competitive setup, the Hayate Otsu V2 pairs exceptionally well with modern ultra-light gaming mice. Browse our gaming mice and keyboards or explore additional gaming mousepads and desk accessories to complete your setup.
